As You Feel

A Portrait Series By Dylan Le’Mon

( YALLINGUP )

This body of work is part of an ongoing portrait series by Australian artist Dylan Le’Mon. Open to all, this series invites you as you are — to sit with another, to share a message, and to stand in the light. Together, we explore themes of softness, connection, and intention through writing and portraiture.
Each sitting begins with a short meditation, followed by a written exercise, before moving gently into the portrait studio.

This is a slow and mindful practice; no previous experience with meditation is needed. All images are traditionally printed by hand in the Darkroom. Participants should be comfortable with their image being displayed publicly in exhibition and shared digitally.

An Invitation to Softness

This sitting is an offering — a moment to slow down, to breathe, and to be seen.
Through meditation, reflection, and the slow process of analogue image-making, we explore presence together.

Each session is both an artwork and a quiet exchange — a shared practice of being here, now.

The Process

Part 1 — Meditation
We begin with a short meditation (5–10 minutes). The invitation is simple: to sit with the breath, to feel it rise and fall, and to observe what’s present — with no judgement.

Part 2 — Reflection
You’ll then be handed a notebook containing messages written by previous sitters. Marked for you will be the last entry. You’re invited to read their message and, in your own time, write a message for the next person to come.

Part 3 — The Sitting
In silence , we move to the photo studio. Together we may explore gentle movements before standing in the light. The image is made slowly — a meditation on breath, awareness, and the message you’ve written.

Two portraits are created: one seated, one standing. Each photograph is an act of curiosity and presence — an image unique to your lived experience.

What You Receive

You’ll receive a traditionally printed black and white contact sheet
an 8x10" silver gelatin print featuring all the images made during your sitting.

Every print is hand developed and hand printed in the Hemsley Road darkroom.

Cost and Contributions

This is a self-funded project and exhibition.
Sittings are offered on a “pay as you feel” basis — all contributions go toward film, paper, chemistry, and studio costs.

Your support helps sustain this slow and intentional photographic practice.

Before We Meet

In the days or weeks before your sitting, we’ll arrange a short video or phone call.
This is a chance to connect, talk through the process, and answer any questions you may have.

With Gratitude

I would like to acknowledge the Wadandi people as the traditional custodians of this land and honour their continuing connection to Country — to land, water, and community.
I pay my respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

The light, the land, the trees, the air, the birds — I feel deeply nourished by this place, and I’m grateful to share it with you.

One Love,
Dylan Le’Mon
